What do you do when all hope feels lost or like there is nothing left? The human experience seems to be rich with these types of experiences, doesn't it? Worst of all, in our darkest moments we often think, "No one could possibly know how this feels." This book is full of stories right from that moment. Women who found themselves in the darkest of times and ultimately found the Sacred Silver Lining, share their stories with a message of hope that you can find the light in your dark times too. Testimonials:
"Tanya’s retreat at Aravaipa Farms was more than I could have hoped for. Every detail was planned meticulously and the setting was absolutely perfect. This was my first yoga retreat so I wasn’t sure if I could keep up with the group. Tanya was so gentle and guided all levels through the exercises encouraging us to do what was comfortable for each of us. She is a fabulous teacher: Kind, gentle, and knowledgeable. Tanya also incorporated wellness information as we did our sessions and put together a workbook to remind us of our goals at home. The lodging was perfect (on a working farm) the staff were exceptional and the food was fabulous! It was a wonderful retreat that didn’t last nearly long enough! " ~SS
"This was my first time attending a yoga and wellness retreat. I knew there would be yoga practice and movement, what I didn't realize was how much all of us would really get to know one another and connect as a community for 3 amazing days! Tanya has a true gifrt to share and I highly recommend attending her next retreat!" ~Kim H.

Testimonials
"Chair Yoga has been the most wonderful surprise. For medical reasons, I can no longer take regular yoga classes, but Chair Yoga fits the bill perfectly. Don’t let the word “Chair” fool you – the workout is thorough and challenging. However, modifications are always available to fit your needs. No movement is ever wrong and each person works at their own pace. Chair has helped my strength, balance , flexibility and endurance. And Tanya is the most amazing instructor. She brings a wealth of experience and years of training to our class and is able to explain things in a simple, direct way – always weaving in pearls of wisdom. She makes the class fun, too. So, you leave feeling not only physically better – with a bounce in your step – but also emotionally better – with a happy, “can do” attitude. "

"I’m a 60 year old female with a regular yoga practice. I started taking barre classes with Tanya with the intention to supplement and add strength to my yoga practice. What I found was something quite magical. Tanya is very knowledgeable and precise Barre teacher, and her yoga background shines through in her classes. She made sure that I was doing the Barre movements correctly to gain maximum results as I told her what areas I wanted to concentrate on. Over the course of 2 years going twice a week my body was beautifully transformed. The classes were rigorous and tough if done correctly but the hard work really paid off. I was amazed how much stronger my yoga practice became also. If you have the opportunity to do Barre classes with Tanya I highly recommend it. She is so very kind and extremely knowledgable. Thank you Tanya!"

"I met Tanya about a year ago. At the time, I was struggling to recover from several stressful situations and physical issues and when I learned Tanya offered private lessons, I jumped at the chance to practice yoga with her. I can’t say enough about the supportive and effective teaching and coaching that Tanya offers. I was quite nervous about getting started again, as I’d not been able to figure out on my own how to get back to an active life while not further injuring myself. Honestly, I’d become pretty convinced that I didn’t have many options. Tanya’s teaching and coaching style is gentle and encouraging, inspiring and full of love and joy. Tanya encouraged me to try new things and new poses, and when I got nervous about certain poses, she always reminded me to go slow, but also - every time - reminded me that I am much stronger than I gave myself credit for. And every time, she was right. I was pleasantly stunned, time and again, at what I was actually capable of doing. Absolutely, I give Tanya’s teaching style the credit for reminding me of the strength of my core (in more ways than one!) As time went on, we also explored the rest of yoga together; the Eight Limbs. Tonya was amazing and completely flexible, supporting me firmly, gently and with deep love in my larger search for meaning through the practice of yoga. We also worked together to make a plan for me to keep me active and to carve out time to find peace in every day. Today, I consider myself to be strong, healthy and managing my continued journey with amazing tools and skills. I am so happy, and honored to have learned so much about myself, in partnership with such a caring and skillful teacher."

"I started chair yoga with Tanya several weeks ago and attend two times a week. I will be going 3 or sometimes 4 times a week now that she has added more classes. Tanya leads a very inspiring practice. She encourages you to work at your own level by modifying your movements. This allows you to use the chair fully, just a little or not at all. I can already see progress in my balance and confidence. It is also a very peaceful environment with lots of opportunity for growth. Tanya is encouraging and supportive as is reflected in her calming and patient manner of teaching. Individuals of all ages could benefit from this class. "

"After frequent falls, doctors appointments, & rounds of general physical therapy, I finally found Balance Therapy and Tanya’s chair yoga class! Many of the balance exercises I found in the specialized program of PT (that only lasted 6 weeks)are also part of chair yoga! Guess I didn’t realize that yoga needs both strength & balance! Tanya teaches both in her class! After each week of classes, I am noticing improvement in the right muscle groups to enable me to do yoga and prevent falling! Tanya is so encouraging with her positive comments that it makes it fun to go to her classes! We also have fun as a group & have been known to “rock out” to some fun music too. Having had replacements of my knee, hip, and shoulder I love that we don’t have to get up & down off the floor and are always encouraged by Tanya to find work around for what works for our own bodies."
-Nancy H, Chair Yoga Practitioner (age 75)
"I was told about chair yoga, but initially thought it would not be adequate exercise or too easy. I was wrong. It provides stretching, varied exercises and peaceful camaraderie. Balance is a big part of the time spent along with core strength. The only thing it lacks is the stress of getting up and down from a mat on the floor. I highly recommend it. Tanya is a great teacher and wonderful with 'older' folk!"
-CVG, Yoga Practitioner
"My experience with Tanya's yoga classes has been nothing but positive: from her entertaining music choices to her calm and positive energy. I find myself not watching the clock to count down the minutes until a work-out is over, but watching instead the smiles on everyone's faces. We are working hard, but it feels so pleasurable because of the tone of Tanya's leadership, and the energy of her spirit. When you can have that much fun doing something that is good for you, I call that a win! "

What are the benefits of yoga?
Practicing yoga has loads of physical benefits: it creates a flexible, toned and strong body and improves breathing, energy and metabolism. Yoga improves circulatory and cardiac health, as well as fitness levels, pain and posture. It also has benefits for your mental health, making you happier, more balanced and emotionally calmer. It helps you relax so you can handle stress better. Yoga encourages self-confidence and helps you to focus your energy.
The spiritual benefits of yoga are also key: Yoga teaches you to be aware of what is going on inside and outside of you. Yoga teaches you to be present in your surroundings and open to what is all around – in other words, more mindful.
You will feel some benefits immediately, such as the release of physical tension, the body opening and muscles strengthening – the “feel good” factor that keeps people hooked on yoga. Other benefits depend on how much you practice and every person is different. But most people will feel a positive change after a few weeks, if not before.
What is Yoga Nidra?
In many ways, yoga nidra is more similar to meditation than to what most people think of as yoga. It doesn’t involve any stretches or poses. Yoga nidra instead focuses on relaxing and reaching deep consciousness.
But unlike meditation, yoga nidra is done while lying down. It also involves more structure than guided meditation, with 10 primary steps.
What is Chair Yoga?
Chair yoga is a mix of yoga postures, strength training, meditation, balance work without having to get up and down from the floor. Feel free to use a chair for practice as well as stand up!
